The review raises several fair questions about Twiggi Vinyl Player, and our own article answers many of them. The module is not a general-purpose media manager or a full streaming player: it was built around a specific idea – presenting one playable track as a digital vinyl record with a Technics-inspired turntable design.
The concept has a clear story behind it. Twiggi released the single “Disco World” in 1986 under the name Twiggi Band, and the free module brings that single back to life online. The B-side was instrumental only and was deliberately left out; the focus is on the original, vocal version of “Disco World”.
For site owners who need playlists, multiple tracks, streaming-service embeds or an invisible background player, Twiggi Vinyl Player is not the right tool – and it is not intended to be. Its purpose is to make one track a visible, designed part of the page.
However, a Pro version is on the way. It will support a series of tracks based on a playlist created in the Joomla backend, while retaining the same turntable-style presentation.
As for the other points raised in the review: the module uses standard web audio playback, does not autoplay before the user presses the start button, and includes configurable artwork and audio files. The free version ships with “Disco World” and the Twiggi.dk label, while the module and installation instructions are available in Danish, English, German, French and Spanish. Support and documentation are provided directly through Twiggi, and the module is distributed as free, open-source software under GPLv2 or later.

Twiggi Vinyl Player – Disco World on Your Website
We’ve been geeking out over building our own digital turntable. After all, why not let the record spin on your website when you have your very own single?
You can now experience the Twiggi Vinyl Player on your Joomla website: a digital vinyl record with grooves, a record label, and an S-shaped tonearm inspired by the Technics SL-1210 MKII. Press play, and the record starts spinning. Press it again to stop the music.
The Single That Became Disco World
In 1986, we released our own single under the name Twiggi Band. It was called “Disco World” and was released in connection with our 15th anniversary. Back then, we called ourselves Twiggi’s Disco World – today, you know us as Twiggi.dk.
The anniversary celebrated the first 15 years of our mobile discos. At the same time, the single was a musical statement: we had come to stay. For many people, “Disco World” became a must-have in their record collection, and several of our DJs still keep the single among their records.
We are among the very few mobile discos to have released a single under our own name – perhaps the only one. More than 50 years after our first job, Disco World is still part of what we want to give our customers: a place you’ll want to go.
A Digital Turntable for Joomla
Twiggi Vinyl Player is a free, open-source module for Joomla 6. It features a transparent, square design with a Technics-inspired record and a compact start/stop button. Playback only begins when you press the button, and the record’s rotation follows the music.
The module comes with “Disco World” as its default audio track and the Twiggi.dk logo as the record label. You can change both the audio file and the image in the module settings, allowing you to use your own music track and logo. The module and installation instructions are available in Danish, English, German, French, and Spanish.
With Twiggi Vinyl Player, your website gets a small piece of our disco history – and a record that still spins.
Twiggi Vinyl Player is available from the Joomla Extensions Directory.
