A Tribute to DJ Kjeld Tolstrup – A Beacon in the World of Electronic Music!
For decades, DJ Kjeld Tolstrup stood as one of Denmark’s most iconic DJs. With a career spanning years and a repertoire ranging from intimate clubs to the world’s largest events, he left an indelible mark on both the Danish and international electronic music scenes.
A Journey Through Music
Kjeld Tolstrup began his DJ career at the age of just 16 in Skanderborg in 1981. From these humble beginnings, he worked his way up to become one of Denmark’s most sought-after DJs. His talent and dedication brought him to some of the world’s most prestigious clubs and events, including Ministry of Sound in London, Sensation in Copenhagen, the Olympics in Athens, and the MTV Europe Music Awards.

A Visionary Behind the Decks
Kjeld Tolstrup was not just a DJ; he was also a creative force behind remixes for artists such as C.V. Jørgensen, Love Shop, Cut ‘N’ Move, and Infernal. His ability to transform music into something new and exciting made him a pioneer in his field.
His collaboration with Twiggi.dk also played a central role in his career. From 2006 until his untimely death, Twiggi.dk provided DJ equipment for his many gigs across the country. Additionally, a special DJ booth was designed for him – known as the “Kjeld Tolstrup Booth” – which still holds an honorary place at Twiggi.dk’s warehouse.
A Voice on the Airwaves
Beyond his live performances, Kjeld Tolstrup was also a prominent figure in radio. He was a recurring guest DJ on the popular radio show De Sorte Spejdere (2005–2008) on DR’s P3. In collaboration with Le Gammeltoft, he co-hosted the music program Unga Bunga, where they launched the compilation series Sound of Copenhagen – a tribute to both renowned and emerging electronic artists.
A Life Cut Too Short
On March 21, 2011, we sadly lost Kjeld Tolstrup far too soon at the age of just 45 after a prolonged illness. His passing left a significant void in the music world, but his legacy lives on through the many people he inspired and the music he brought to life.
